Early departure from Cusco by bus to Tinqui (3,900m). Begin the trek through traditional Andean villages. Ascend to Upis camp at the foot of Ausangate glacier with stunning mountain views. First night camping at 4,400m.
Most challenging day. Cross the Arapa Pass at 5,200m — the highest point of the trek. Spectacular views of Ausangate glacier and turquoise mountain lakes. Descend to camp at Ausangate Lake. Watch for Andean condors.
Cross Jampa Pass with panoramic Andean views. Trek through colourful mineral-rich valleys and past glacial lagoons. Descend to Jampa camp. Easier day with stunning scenery throughout.
Final descent to Pacchanta village. Soak in natural hot springs with Ausangate views — a perfect reward after the trek. Bus transfer back to Cusco arriving late afternoon.
